Over the past year, as my family has had each legal route to gaining status in America shot down in republican courts, we have learned to lean into ancestral practices as a mode of protection, comfort, and connection to familial identity. This sculpture, of two hands holding herbs from a “limpia,” which is an ancient cleansing of one's physical and emotional well-being, acts as a vessel of for our emotional method of surviving our immigration story.
